New Technology in Cars – Features for the Upcoming Year

New technology in cars enhances the safety and upgrades the driving experience. A 2000 car is going to be much different than one made for 2010. And, even cars that were made just five years ago do not have all of the features that one coming off the line this year will. You can expect that the new technology in cars this year will completely overhaul your driving experience. Here are some of the upgrades you can expect in the coming year.

One of the most ubiquitous new technologies are navigation systems. GPS devices guide drivers with voice and visual directions. The driver just has to enter the destination and he or she will be guided right there.

Another feature that car owners care about is fuel economy. Take air conditioning, for instance. Many owners switch off the A/C when it gets cooler to save gas. But, more recent cars automatically switch off the air conditioning and other non-essential systems automatically.

Airbags have been standard features on cars for a couple of decades. But, in recent models, curtain airbags have become a new car safety feature. These reduce the likelihood of head injury to people in both the front and back seats.

Just like the \”black boxes\” in airliners, event data recorders can show proof of driving speed, the location of the car and other details. This feature is most useful for things like car insurance claims and legal issues related to accidents.

Don\’t you hate having to pull over to the side of the road to change a tire? Now some hybrid owners won\’t have to thanks to the \”run flat\” tire feature which allows them to drive up to 50 miles with no air pressure in their tires.

Car technologies are becoming increasingly advanced. And we haven\’t seen the end yet! Cars that park themselves and even drive themselves are on the drawing boards.

The new technology in cars has increased at an amazing speed. Cars are now more comfortable and safer than ever before.
